Breast cancer

Although many types of breast cancer can cause a lump in the breast. Most breast cancers begin in the ducts that carry milk to the nipple (ductal cancers). Many different types of breast cancer and common ones include ductal carcinoma in situ (DCIS) and invasive carcinoma. Others, like phyllodes tumors and angiosarcoma are less common.

Breast cancer is the most frequently diagnosed life-threatening cancer in women and the leading cause of cancer death among women.

The breast is composed of two main types of tissues.

  • Glandular tissues
  • Stromal (supporting) tissues.

Glandular tissues house the milk-producing glands (lobules) and the ducts (the milk passages).
While stromal tissues include fatty and fibrous connective tissues of the breast. 

The breast is also made up of lymphatic tissue immune system tissue that removes cellular fluids and waste. There are several types of tumors that may develop within different areas of the breast.

  • Non-Invasive Breast Cancer
  • Invasive Breast Cancer
  • Lobular carcinoma in situ
  • Ductal carcinoma in situ
  • Infiltrating ductal carcinoma
  • Medullary carcinoma
  • Mutinous carcinoma
  • Tubular carcinoma

25 வயது முதல் பெண்கள், மாதம் ஒருமுறையாவது, தங்களது மார்புகளைத் தாங்களாகவே சோதனை செய்து கொள்ளும், `சுய மார்பகப் பரிசோதனை' (Self Breast Examination) அவசியமான ஒன்றாகும். மாதவிலக்கு ஏற்பட்ட 7 முதல் 10 நாள்களுக்குள், கண்ணாடி முன் நின்று, இரு மார்பகங்களுக்கு இடையே வித்தியாசம் தெரிகிறதா என்று கண்களால் பார்த்தும், அந்தப்பக்க கையின் நான்கு விரல்களால் அழுத்தித் தேய்த்தும் சுயபரிசோதனை செய்து கொள்ளலாம்.

பரிசோதனையின்போது, மார்பில் கட்டி அல்லது வீக்கம், மார்பகத் தோலில் அதீத சுருக்கம், மார்பகத்தில் ரத்தக்கசிவு போன்ற வித்தியாசமான அறிகுறிகள் தென்பட்டால், உடனடியாக மருத்துவரின் உதவியை நாடவேண்டும். அதன்பிறகு `மாமோகிராம்' என்ற ஸ்கிரீனிங் டெஸ்ட், மிக முக்கியமான பரிசோதனை முறையாகும்.

மார்பகப் புற்றுநோயை வெல்லும் ஆற்றல், மகளிருக்கு நிச்சயம் உண்டு

பெண்களுக்கு வரும் புற்றுநோய்களில் இரண்டாவது இடத்தில் இருப்பதும் மார்பகப் புற்றுநோய்தான். கருப்பைப் புற்றுநோயைவிட அதிகம் பாதிக்கின்ற நோயாக மார்பகப் புற்றுநோய் இருக்கிறது.

மார்பகப் புற்றுநோயின் அறிகுறிகள்

  • மார்பகத்தில் கட்டி அல்லது அக்குளில் வீக்கம்
  • மார்பக அமைப்பில் மாற்றம்
  • மார்பகக் காம்பில் திரவம் கசிதல் மார்புக் காம்புகள் உள்ளிழுத்துக் கொள்ளல்
  • மார்பகத் தோலில் சுருக்கம் அல்லது புள்ளிகள் தோன்றுவது
  • மார்பகம் சிவத்தல், வீங்குதல், கதகதப்படைதல்.

சில கட்டிகள் வளர்ந்து பெரிதாவதோடு, பக்கத்தில் உள்ள பாகங்களுக்கும் பரவும். இதனையே புற்றுநோய் பரவுதல் என்கின்றனர். இது சுற்றியுள்ள திசுக்களையும் தாக்கும். இந்தத் திசுக்களை எடுத்து பயாப்சி செய்து பார்ப்பதன் மூலமே பரவும் கட்டியா அல்லது ஆபத்து இல்லாத வெறும் கட்டியா எனத் தெரிய வரும்.
