Skin diseases are classified into eighteen types in Siddha. It includes the whole range of dermatological complaints arising out of the moods of the human mind to the various micro-organisms, vast external environment and complex endocrine and metabolic transitions within the body. Fungal infection, eczema, lecoderma, leprosy are all included within this classification. The herbs and medicines are given in two tables, the first one containing the common name of the Herbs, along with their Botanical name and family, their uses in Siddha Medicine. The second table contains the names of the Medicines (herbal, metal & mineral origin), their main ingredients, indications and the references.

தோலில் தோன்றும் நுண்கிருமிகளால் தோல் கடும் பாதிப்படைகிறது. தோல் வறட்சி, சொரி, சிரங்கு, படை, வெண்படை, கரப்பான், விரலிடுக்கில் தோன்றும் குருக்கள், முகப்பரு, உடம்பில் ஆங்காங்கே அவ்வப்போது தோன்றும் தடிப்பு, வெண்குட்டம், தலையில் தோன்றும் பொடுகு, பூச்சிவெட்டு, நகத்தில் தோன்றும் நகச்சுற்று, நகச்சொத்தை, தொடையிடுக்கு, அக்குள், கழுத்துப்பகுதிகளில் கடும் அரிப்பு போன்ற பல தொல்லைகள் உண்டாகின்றன.

தோலில் அரிப்பு, வெடிப்பு, தோல் சிவத்தல், செதில் செதிலாக உதிர்தல், நிறமாற்றம், தோலில் உணர்ச்சியின்மை போன்ற பல உபாதைகளுக்கு தோலில் வளரும் கிருமிகளே காரணமாக அமைகிறது.

இந்த கிருமிகள் தோலின் அடுக்குகளை கொஞ்சம் கொஞ்சமாக ஊடுருவி, தோலின் எண்ணெய் கோளங்களை அடைத்து, வியர்வை துவாரங்களை சிதைத்து, தோலுக்கு நிறத்தை தரும் மெலனின் மற்றும் ரோமத்திற்கு நிறத்தை தரும் கெரட்டின் நிறமிகளை அழித்து கொஞ்சம் கொஞ்சமாக நுண்ணிய ரத்தக்குழாய் மூலமாக ரத்த சுற்றோட்டத்தில் கலக்கின்றன.
